Tiaja began dancing when she was a child in Northern California. Her dance background includes studying ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop and choreography at UNLV, SFSU and CSU Long Beach. She later began belly dancing which captivated her so, that she immediately felt the need to enhance her knowledge by studying and researching the culture and history of this graceful and enchanting art.
Her belly dance training began with Middle Eastern professionals Farah (O.C., CA), Ana Goebel (San Diego, CA), Leilainia of The Shimmy Sisters (San Diego, CA), Sabrina Fox of Atash Maya (San Diego, CA), Jenia (Vacaville, CA), and has attended workshops by Rachel Brice of the Indigo, Jillee of Wild Card Belly Dance and Fire Lilies, Kristina Canizares of The Nekyia, Crystal Silmi and others.
She is currently training with Ariellah (Oakland, CA) in the art of Tribal and Dark Fusion, and Leea (Walnut Creek, CA) in the art of Cabaret style belly dancing.
Tiaja’s instruction focuses on technique and she has been complimented on the clarity of her explanation. Tiaja has a very unique, graceful and elegant style that produces delightful stage presence.
Tiaja has instructed and performed in several areas of the athletic arena, including competitive figure skating cheerleading and gymnastics, but has found that belly dance has it’s own unique way of fulfilling ones need for beauty, physical awareness, and physical as well as emotional strength.
Her passion and love for the art of belly dancing has moved her not only of her own love and passion for the dance, but also teaching others, and performing for events. She enjoys performing with her sword and entertaining with her fire dancing. Tiaja has received a Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology from CSU Long Beach., and has received Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (CLAD) from National University in Costa Mesa, CA.
