Mark has been an avid photographer since the late 70’s when he purchased his first 35mm camera in New York. It was there that he began his education with a mix of theory and experimentation on the streets and alley’s of the “Big Apple”. While developing his photography talents, he was also polishing his skills as a lead guitarist, specializing in the genre of classic rock, blues and contemporary country.
In the early 2000’s, a friend asked him to photograph a guitar for him so it could be sold on eBay. While viewing the finished photographs, it seemed only natural to blend his love for photography and guitars together. Since then he has been able to photograph some of the best guitars, dating from the 50’s to the present.
In 2005 Mark published his first book of photographs titled “Textures of China”. Then in 2006 he published his first book of guitar photography, with his second following in 2007. Both were titled “The Art of Guitars” volumes I and II. Companion calendars were also released with the corresponding years. In 2007 Mark also released his first CD, titled “Cubicle Death”. Cubicle Death, in a comical way, chronicles life in today’s cubicle laden office. The title track was reviewed by Garage Band Records and was awarded Best Guitars, Best Programming, Best Lyrics, Most Original, Rocking Track, and Grooviest Rhythm in the Pop Rock category.
Mark is still best known for his abstract guitar photography and runs a popular guitar photography web site.
You can view his photographs at the Folsom Historic Districts Second Saturday Art Walk on historic Sutter Street in Folsom, California.
