Marianne began her musical adventures on the streets of a French town, Montpelier; joyfully singing and charming pedestrians with her songs in Spanish, English and French. Singing in the concerts and performance halls her gospel orientation, Gypsy and Latin influences fill the air with her humanist messages. She is an extraordinary lyricist, composer and guitarist.
With a warm and powerful voice her repertoire has a variety of surprises and witty renditions of song. She has a great rapport with the audience and knows how to draw them into her performances. Marianne was also a member of a gospel choir entitled Gospelize-it Mass Choir. Her Gypsy stylings developed in Montpelier as she lived among gypsies there and in Latin America. She created her own sound with group, Ginkobiloba.
She recorded two albums with this group Pachamama (1999) and Mamacita (2002). In 2005 Marianne began a new Duo group. In 2004 and 2005 she toured with Choeur de la Garrique, but the duo shortly parted. Marianne Aya Omac now performs solo. She will be joined by the illustrious Joan Baez vocalist guitar legend at the Yoshis in the Bay Area this Spring. Check out their calendar for information.
