These well respected vocalists are top contributers to the education of jazz to throngs of students, aficianados and audiences internationally. They’ve shown their natural affinity to the genre we call jazz. With their diverse approach to showtime ballads, swinging  jazz classics, talented improvisation skills and tireless efforts for almost three decades to bring joy and top knotch entertainment to the masses.
They will have a long awaited performance at the bay area’s Yoshi Restaurant and concert hall. Get your tickets this Spring for their upcoming exciting show. Tim Hauser originally began putting the group together in 1972. He met by chance a great vocalist in his taxi route named Laurel Masse’, who had heard Jukin’, one of his first Manhatten Transfer’s combo. Shortly after he met Janis Siegel at a party.
He convinced her and Laurel to be an integral part in the forming of the new Manhatten Transfer group.Alan Paul was doing quite famously on Broadway, who also was added to the entourage. They  were officially a band in October 1, 1972. They played the following New York Clubs and other venues, wowing the crowds wherever they performed. Such venues on the list were, Trudy Heller’s, Reno Sweeney’s and Max’s Kansas City. They followed with a TV show on CBS.
They were greatly loved by European audiences and with Coming Out and Pastiche albums they acquired top ten hits. The album Manhatten Transfer Live followed with fanfare. The Album Extentions included the hit Twilight Zone. In 1980 the Birdland Show brought the house down and they received a Grammy award for Best Jazz Fusion Performance, Vocal or Instrumental and award for the Best Arrangement for Vocals, which Janis Siegel took home.
They continued to win awards as their Best Pop Performance and Grammy for Best Jazz Performance in the same year. The awards go on and on. Bringing everyone up to date in 2000, The Spirit of St Louis captures the group at its best. They continue to delight audiences everywhere. Catch their act and vocals at Yoshi’s soon!
