Kreisburg was born in New York City. As a guitarist and composer, Jonathan has fond memories of his childhood steeped in music. He says, “I was lucky to grow up in a household that had a great and wide-ranging record collection, including Coltrane’s My Favorite Things, John William’s playing the “Concierto De Aranjuez’ and Cream’s “Disraeli Gears.”
Jonathan began guitar at the age of ten after moving to Miami with his family. At sixteen he was admitted to the New World School of the Arts, where his jazz studies took center stage. His works have been received so well that his guitar work has had him featured in Guitar Player and Downbeat Magazine, while still in his teens. He won the scholarship to the University of Miami, touring Brazil and performing with Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker and Red Rodney.
Upon graduation, Jonathan began playing straight ahead jazz gigs as well as a myriad of other projects. He performed Twentieth Century works with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. He has recorded and worked extensively with the rock band, Third Wish.
Kreisburg has a great CD entitled, The South of Everywhere. Will Vinson is on Saxophone, Mark Ferber on drums and bassist Phil Donkin. Kreisburg’s and his touring bands appearance in Stockton at the Delta College was attended by students, aficionados and musicians alike. He presently is touring with his jazz trio at colleges and concerts through out the nation. You will be pleasantly surprised with the expertise and repertoire that this exciting group brings to the stage!
