Dorothy Steed

Dorothy is  best known for her creations of scenes, flowers and creatures from her native state, California. Growing up in rural California, she developed a creative and sensitive feeling of the outdoors, wild flowers, mountains, waterways and all wild creatures, that she tries to present in her works.
Her art studies continued through high school, college and with well-known artists (Theresa Bright Dunlavey, LaVere Hutchings, Marilyn Simandelle, James Godwin Scott, L. Marie Russell, Anita Wolff, Dave Huddleston, Jan Miskulin and Ted Goerschner).
In recent years she has studied Chinese Brush Painting with Lily Chan. Her Chinese painting study brings an oriental influence to her collages on hand made papers, watercolor inks and scenes of California.
She has painted throughout the United States., Canada, Caribbean, Mexico and France. Her paintings are represented in private and corporate collections, including the California Department of Aging’s permanent collection.
She has exhibited and been represented at the Blooming Art Gallery, Turner Library, The New Art Works Gallery, KVIE Auction, The Nature Conservancy, Sacramento Fine Arts Center Gallery and Procida Florist Gallery. She is a Charter member of the “KRITIKOS” Artists.
