Dana has been sculpting clay animals since she was 11 years old. Her work has been shown all over Northern California and Nevada. She trained in fine arts at the University of Nevada Reno and under various artists in Nevada.
For over 30 years she has worked with high fire stoneware clay and more recently is using the local terra cotta clay from Lincoln, California. Each piece is a hand built original. They are made hollow, fired, and then painted with acrylic washes.
Dana’s subject matter ranges from small birds and rabbits to life-sized wolves and bears. Most recently she has been working on garden creations such as birdbaths and fountains.
Dana has lived in the Sacramento area for over 20 years with her husband and nine children.
