The Bad Plus

The Bad Plus made their major label debut in 2003 with These Are the Vistas. The extreme of their collaborations brought a lot of buzz in the music world. What were the structures of Jazz of Fusion with this group seemed beyond boundaries.
Thus the arrival of The Bad Plus was a shock to the public. The experimental group included, Ethan Iverson on piano, Reid Anderson on bass and Dave King on drums. The group identity was expressed as a very specific idea by Dave King as, “White noise atmosphere, all the instruments colliding, very calamity driven and chaos theory stuff!” He continued in saying, “Seeming to cock-a-snoot at current jazz proprietary, this band’s music is often loud, complex and rhythmic, succeeded in inducing involuntary facial tics among listeners of a more temperate disposition.” You may experience their unique performance at the Mondavi Performing Arts Center this Spring!
