Ann Ragland Bowns
The work of Ann Ragland Bowns, a member of the Sacramento art community since 1959, has encompassed a variety of media, consisting of oil, watercolor, acrylic, printmaking and batik.
The marvelous color and luxurious feel of dye on silk encouraged Ann to explore the depths of this medium.
The marvelous color and luxurious feel of dye on silk encouraged Ann to explore the depths of this medium.
Her love of Yosemite was the original stimulus for creating landscapes on silk and created a whole new venue for her in 1993.
She has since produced giclees, posters and postcards of her original paintings. Ann has had a number of commissions for large scale batiks, including four ten-foot renditions of Bible stories for the McClellan Air Force Base Chapel, a piece for the Ethel McLeod Hart Senior Center commissioned by Sacramento Art-in-Public Places and the Sherman Building at UCDavis Medical Center.
Her work has received many awards in juried shows and she has been included in “The Best of Silk Painting” by North Light Books. Ann has been teaching silk-painting workshops since 1986.
